Admission Procedure

Admission to PG programmes will be on the basis of the performance at the Post-Graduate And PhD Entrance Examination (PGEE 2010) and an interview to be held at Hyderabad.

Note : For MS and Ph.D programmes, exceptional candidates may be called directly for the interview on the basis of their qualification and experience. For details of application visit Standing PG

About Post-Graduate Entrance Examination (PGEE 2010):

An all-India examination to test the preparedness of the applicants will be held on 18th April, 2010 (10 AM to 1.PM). The examination will be held at Hyderabad and a number of major cities (Bangalore, Calcutta, Delhi, Mumbai) in the country depending on the number of applicants from each region. The entrance examination will consist of two papers. Paper I test the general aptitude of the candidate and will consist of objective questions from Mathematics, Programming, and Logical Reasoning. Paper II is the Subject Paper, which tests the candidate's subject knowledge.

How To Apply ?

All applications should be submitted online in PGEE portal To submit the application, a candidate has to complete two registration forms: Pre-Registration Form and Main Registration Form.

Filling of Pre-Registration Form. After filling the Pre-Registration form, the candidate receives an E-Mail which contains the link and identification code. The link should be opened in a browser by supplying the identification code to fill in the Main Registration Form.
Filling of Main Registration Form. The main registration form can only be filled by opening the link received through the E-Mail, after filling in the preceeding pre-registration form.

Important Notes :

PGEE portal opens for submitting applications on 1st Feb 2010 .
Last Date for the Submission of Main Registration Form will be 18th March 2010 .
Last date for the receipt of Application Fees (either through Credit card or Demand Draft) at IIIT, Hyderabad will be 22nd March 2010.
Availability of admit cards is 1st April 2010 .
Note that the Registration WILL NOT be considered until the candidate completes the Main Registration Form. After filling in the Main Registration Form, the candidate gets an Acknowledgement E-Mail, which confirms that the registration is complete.
The purpose of Pre-Pregistration Form is to Confirm the E-Mail address. So it is very important to give a valid E-Mail ID as it will be used for later communication.
Note that the candidate can also update the information such as program details and center till their application has been finalized, by following the same link which has been received after filling in pre-registration form.
Everytime you update or modify your information you will get an Updated Acknowledge Mail.
Most important, please check the acknowledgement E-Mails in your "Bulk" or "Junk" folders, because sometimes the mails may go there.
Application will be considered valid only after the Pre-Registration and Main-Registration form is completed, and the application fee is received by IIIT-H.

About Application Fees:

Applicants can apply for one or more programmes in the same form by indicating choices.
The application fee is Rs. 1000/- for one programme and Rs. 50/- extra for each additional programme applied for.
Application fee can be paid either through Credit Card or through Demand Draft.
- Credit Card - While filling-in the Main Registration form, the candidate can opt for Credit Card option follow the subsequent instruction.
- Demand Draft- While filling-in the Main Registration form, the candidate can opt for Demand Draft option. After submitting the Main Registration form.Demand Draft in favor of IIIT, Hyderabad for appropriate amount should be drawn.A candidate must write application number (received in the confirmation mail) along with the name on the reverse side of the demand draft and send the same to the Chairman, PG Admissions, IIIT, Gachibowli, Hyderabad-500032, Andhra Pradesh.

Following is a registry file containing a few registry modifications, which are completely safe and can increase the performance of Windows Vista. Just download the attached ZIP file, extract it and then run the file: Tweak Windows Vista Restore Default Settings 2. Right-click on My Computer icon on Desktop and select Properties (or press key + key), click on Advanced system settings link in left side pane (You can also open it by typing sysdm.cpl in RUN or start menu search box and press Enter). Now click on Settings button in Performance section:

Now disable all unnecessary options in Visual Effects tab, you can remain following options enabled according to your requirements:

Show preview and filters in folder (If you use Details Pane in Explorer)
Show thumbnails instead of icons (If you want to show thumbnails in Explorer)

3. Open Folder Options and click on View tab:

Now disable following options:

Display file size information in folder tips.
Display simple folder view in Navigation pane.
Hide extensions for known file types.
Show encrypted or compressed NTFS files in color.
Show pop-up description for folder and desktop items.

Other options don't affect the system performance. You can enable/disable them according to your requirements.

4. Right-click on My Computer icon on Desktop and select Manage (You can also open it by typing services.msc in RUN or start menu search box and press Enter).

Now goto Services & Applications -> Services. Here you can set a few unnecessary services to Manual, which will not start with windows and will decrease the boot time and will increase system performance.

5. Type msconfig in RUN or Startmenu search box and press Enter. Now goto Startup tab and deselect the unnecessary entries, which you don't want to start automatically with Windows, e.g. you can disable VGA driver utility, Sound Card utility, etc to speed up the startup time and to increase system performance.

You can also disable these items using Windows Defender. Open Windows Defender and click on Tools and then click on "Software Explorer".

6. Open Sound in Control Panel (or type mmsys.cpl in RUN or Startmenu search box and press Enter), goto Sounds tab and select No Sounds in Sound Scheme section. Or you can remain some of your favorite sounds but set Exit Windows, Windows Logoff, Windows Logon and Start Navigation to (None).

7. After following all above mentioned points, you'll see a big improvement in your Windows Vista performance. If you want to tweak more, then you can use 3rd party tools which are listed here:

8. At last I'll advise to defrag the HDD regularly, install only necessary software, use the latest drivers and keep your Windows updated.

The eligibility criteria regarding prescribed educational qualification, age and other eligibility criteria and application procedure is mentioned below: Educational Qualification: Candidates should have passed qualifying degree examinations and awarded bachelor’s degree in engineering/ technology in the above mentioned disciplines (full time regular courses only) from recognized Indian Universities / Institutes. Candidates (belonging to general and OBC category) should have secured minimum 65% marks in qualifying degree examinations. It is relaxed to ‘pass class’ for SC/ST/PH candidates. Candidates currently in final year of their engineering studies may also apply. However, if selected, they must be in a position to submit their final mark sheet by 31st July 2010.

Age Limit

Maximum 26 years as on 30th June, 2010 for the general category candidates. Age relaxation for OBC (Non Creamy Layer)/SC/ST/PH candidates will be applicable as per the Presidential Directive.

Concessions/ Relaxations

Reservation of posts for SC/ST/OBC(Non-Creamy Layer)/ PH(degree of disability 40% or above) will be maintained as per Government of India directives. Age relaxation to OBC (non-creamy layer), SC/ST and PH candidates will be extended as per the Presidential Directive. For getting the reservation benefits under OBC category:

o The name of caste and community of the candidate must appear in the ’Central list of other Backward Classes’

o The candidates must not belong to creamy layer.

o The candidates need to furnish their OBC certificate as per the format prescribed by Government of India. Age relaxation by 5 years for candidates domiciled in Jammu & Kashmir between 1.1.1980 and 31.12.1989. Age relaxation by 5 years for Ex-servicemen & Commissioned Officers (including ECOs / SSCOs) subject to rendering minimum 5 years’ military service and fulfillment of other conditions prescribed by Government of India. Minimum percentage of marks in the qualifying degree examination is relaxed to ‘pass class’ for SC/ST/PH category candidates.

Physical Fitness

Desirous candidates seeking employment with IndianOil needs to be medically fit as per IndianOil’s pre-employment medical standard. Selection, Training and PlacementThe selection methodology will comprise of the following: Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineers (GATE) 2010 score of the candidates in the concerned disciplines. The graduate engineers from the relevant disciplines, desirous of taking up a career with IndianOil are required to

appear in GATE-2010 in the same disciplines. The disciplines and corresponding GATE papers along with GATE paper codes are given below:

Selected candidates shall have all-India transfer liability and may be posted to any Division / Unit / Subsidiary Company / Office of the Corporation. General category candidates will have to execute a bond of Rs.1,00,000 (Rs.25000/- for SC/ST/OBC & PH candidates) to serve the Corporation for a minimum period of three years from the date of joining (date of appointment as Engineer in case of GAEs after successful completion of training).

Remuneration Package

Engineers/ Officers Candidates selected as engineers/officers will receive a provisional starting basic pay of Rs.23000/-per month. In addition, the selected candidates will receive Dearness Allowance (DA) and other allowances, according to the rules of the Corporation in force, as amended from time to time. Other allowances / benefits include HRA / subsidized housing accommodation (depending upon place of posting), medical facilities, performance related pay, gratuity, contributory provident fund, employees pension scheme, group personal accident insurance scheme, leave encashment, leave travel concession (LTC)/ LFA, contributory superannuation benefit fund scheme, house building advance(HBA), conveyance advance/ maintenance reimbursement, professional updation allowance, lap-top computer, children’s education allowance etc. as per rules. The Cost-to-Company (CTC), in case of a metro city posting, will be around Rs. 7.60 lakhs per annum inclusive of performance related pay (PRP) Graduate Apprentice Engineers (GAEs) Candidates selected as GAEs for one-year apprenticeship training will be paid consolidated stipend @ Rs.20,000/- per month. Upon successful completion of apprenticeship training, they may be appointed as engineers in the scale of pay referred above.

How to apply

1. GATE-2010 is scheduled on 14th February 2010. For detailed information on GATE-2010, interested candidates may log on to http://www.iitg.ernet.in/gate or websites of other IITs and Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore.2. Candidates need to purchase the GATE application form as per the information provided in GATE-2010 websites. They should fill-in and submit the GATE application form as instructed by the GATE authorities and wait for the admit card to get the GATE registration number

3. The candidates will receive their GATE-2010 registration number printed on their admit card. On receipt of GATE registration number, the candidates need to apply in IndianOil on-line. The relevant link will be made available from 11th Janaury’2009 at the ‘People & Career’ link of Indian Oil website www.iocl.com. 4. Candidates should click on the on-line application link, read the instructions carefully and fill-in the on-line application form giving accurate information including the GATE-2010 registration number.

5. Upon completion, the candidate should submit the online application by clicking the Submit button at the bottom of the page. If the same is accepted, the system will generate a unique application ID along with the completed application form.

6. Candidate should take a print out of completed application, affix his/her recent passport size photograph, put his/ her signature at the space provided and keep with him/ her safely for future reference. The passport size photograph affixed by the candidate should be the same submitted along with GATE application form. In case the candidate called for GD/GT and interview, he/she should come with this printed application form, along with GATE-2010 admit card and GATE-2010 official score card.

7. The last date for receiving application On-Line is 13th February 2010

General Instructions
1. The candidates must have an active e-mail id, which must be valid for at least next one year. All future communication with the candidates will take place through email only. 2. The candidates should have the relevant documents like percentage of marks obtained in the qualifying examination, caste/sub-caste certificate, date of issue, name of issuing authority, state of origin, etc. readily available with them before they commence application process. These information will be required at the time of filling-in the on-line application. 3. Wherever CGPA/OGPA/DGPA or Letter Grade in a degree / diploma is awarded, its equivalent percentage of marks must be indicated in the application form as per norms adopted by University / Institute. 4. Candidates who have appeared/ are appearing in final qualifying examination in 2010 may also apply. In the event of their being short listed for interview, they will have to submit documentary proof of having passed the qualifying examination with minimum prescribed percentage of marks by 31st July 2010. 5. PH candidates will be considered for selection against the identified posts. 6. Candidates belonging to OBC category, but coming in creamy layer will not be entitled to the benefit of reservation and should apply as General Category candidate. 7. Candidates presently employed in Government Departments / PSUs / Autonomous Bodies will require to submit NOC from competent authority of their current employer at the time of interview. 8. A candidate can apply in one discipline only. Candidates applying for more than one discipline will not be considered. 9. Candidates not found to be meeting the prescribed eligibility criteria shall be rejected at any stage of the selection process

Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus (published in May 1992) is a book by John Gray offering many suggestions for improving men-women relationships in couples by understanding the communication style and emotional needs of the opposite gender. It spawned a series of follow-on books expanding on specific situations (see below).

The book, as suggested by the title, asserts the notion that men and women are as different as beings from other planets. Gray adopts this metaphor as the central theme of all his books and seminars, likening men and women to the classical Roman god Mars and goddess Venus as ideal types.

In contrast to some psychologists (and feminists) who emphasize similarities between the sexes, Gray writes almost exclusively about differences. Gray says that his "Martians" and "Venusians" are only stereotypes and cannot be applied blindly to individuals.

An example of the theories it offers is that women complain about problems because they want their problems to be acknowledged, while men complain about problems because they are asking for solutions. Other concepts in the book are the difference between women and men's point systems and how they react under stress.

Each correct answer will fetch 4 marks and for each incorrect answer 1 mark will be deducted. The standard of Section ‘B’ will be such as may be expected from Engineering Graduates. Each question will have 4 choices one of which will be correct. Body building is a life time commitment. It is not about just looking good, but about being healthy. I say that because so many in the body building world today do things to their bodies that is totally against good health in the pursuit of getting bigger and looking better.

I have seen around a thousand people join the gym with high expectations only to stop coming within a month or two. There is no quick fix to a lifetime of body abuse, but there is hope. Just like there are no real get rich quick plans out there, there are no real get big and strong plans out there either.

One of the biggest downfalls for amateur body builders is muscle magazines. We buy them and look at guys that weight 275, 290, and even 325 pounds with body fat content of 2 ½ to 5% and we start wanting to be like that.

I want you to know that it is totally impossible to make those kinds of gains without taking steroids. I don't care how much you eat, how much you rest or how much you workout, you will not make those gains without committing a felony and committing a crime against your body. Remember, good health should be your number one goal in body building.

Secondly, a pitfall many beginners fall into is that they read the workout schedules of the drug using pros and try to emulate them. You must work your body not someone else's.

Steroids make it possible to recover quickly and workout again. As a natural body builder (drug free) you can only work your body so hard and make gains. If you workout too much it becomes counterproductive and you can actually see a loss of strength and muscle.

So let me sum all this up. Use common sense when beginning your program. Use the weight that your body can handle, not what your buddy is doing or what a guy or girl your size ought to be able to do. Make a life time commitment to health and looking good. And start on a journey that is fun, personally challenging and rewards you with a nice body

Register Ziddu For FREE I just stumbled upon Ziddu - I'm not sure when, but apparently I signed up with Ziddu at some point. It's in it's beta right now but it looks like something that may be great. The site doesn't charge you to upload your files - and get this - there's NO limit. I've already started backing up my files because I've had an issue with a hard drive crashing that I still have to resolve. So I've been kind of looking for a back up plan. I have to vote this the best free file sharing site I found so far. Now, because the service is free, there are lots of ads, but those don't bother me. In fact, I've seen a few that interested me. Upload Anyway, Ziddu let's you upload *any type of file* you'd like and they even give you a download link you can share with friends and family. You can put the items on web-pages and more! At first glance, the site is very simple, but it's pretty easy to navigate. *I am still testing. So far, I've been able to upload pics and mp3s. Not only can you upload and download files for free, you can even view any file that's upload with Ziddu online. I have a cable connection, and it doesn't take long for the files to upload individually. It depends, of course, on how large the file is. I still haven't been able to figure out how to upload multiple files at once, although the site says you can. I'm not sure if it has to do with the fact that I'm using Firefox and not IE. One thing that's kind of annoying is you get emails every time you've uploaded a file to Ziddu. I haven't seen a way yet to fix this in the My Accounts section or anywhere else...maybe an upgrade to come. Isolation vs Compound

Compound exercises work supporting muscles too and are generally done for mass and overall strength gain. Isolation exercises work specific muscles or even part of muscles. It is very common among bodybuilders to do compound exercises for some months and when they are satisfied with bulk, they do isolation exercises to rip off the unnecessary bulk and get that chiseled look.

Fat vs Muscles

Fat and muscles are two different things. No amount of weight training will remove the fat or convert it to muscles. To lose fat you need to do aerobics & dieting. Muscles are hard, fat is softer. You gain fat when you eat more calories than you burn. Fat gain goes hand in hand with muscle gain when bodybuilding because you've to eat too many calories although fat gained this way is not much and doesn't look bad because of bulging muscles. You can never gain lean muscles. Spot reduction is a myth.

How Much Repetitions

Repetitions decide the results of exercises. If they are less then 5, you gain more strength and less (negligible) muscles. 5-10 Reps enhance muscle growth. 10-15 Reps help build endurance. So, you should ideally use weights that take 6-12 reps to reach exhaustion. You work from lower to upper weight wise and rep wise. This is called pyramid technique.

How Much Weight

1rm is the weight with which you can do no more than 1 rep. Of course it varies for different exercises. This is a good measure of weights you should lift. You should lift from 50% to 80% of your 1rm for regular bodybuilding. For strength training you should lift to up to 90% of 1rm. If you can't find the 1rm, use weight with which you can do no more then the reps you sought.

What & When To Eat

Proteins are necessary to build the muscle structure. Carbs/Fat are required for energy supply. Vitamins, Minerals and Water are necessary for normal bodily processes. You should eat some carbs and protein rich easily digestible diet (preferably liquid) within 1 hour of workout. Take a carbs and protein diet (very light so that it may not mess with blood supply)before exercise too so that your body has the required stuff when it needs. Water is very essential. Eat lots of water all day long, before exercise, in between workouts and after workouts. This will ensure that muscles remain fully hydrated. Hydrated muscles recover fats. Lots of water also help vascularity so that you have those much sought veins. Always go for mineral water. Distilled water may dehydrate you (osmosis). Eat often and never miss a meal. In regular meals eat lots of eggs, meat etc. Milk is an excellent source of protein.

How Much To Rest

In between sets, you need to take rest for about 30-90 seconds. You should rest only as long as you may feel able to do another set. If you rest more then that, your body cools down increasing the risk of injury. Smaller muscles need less rest then the bigger ones. For example, biceps are small and legs are big. For splits, you need to rest for a day or two. Again smaller muscles need lesser rest. If you delay the next split too much, you won't gain mass that fast. If you do more often, you'll over train.

Things aren't going very well for Madonna who has fallen from her horse, resulting in some minor injuries.

Since December of last year there has been a sharp divergence between Madonna's private and professional lives. Last year's Sticky And Sweet tour broke records and was the highest grossing live event of 2008.

However the singer's marriage to Guy Ritchie disintegrated as the year progressed, with rumours suggesting that the British director was unhappy with her plans to adopt another child from the impoverished African nation of Malawi.

Madonna has persisted in this move since the pair's divorce became official but last week was denied permission to adopt a young girl on grounds of residency laws. During the case Madonna's private life came under close scrutiny, with some officials in Malawi arguing that she was an unfit role model.

The singer is to appeal the verdict, but before then must recover from a horse riding accident. Madonna is a noted fan of the sport, but it seems that her animal was startled by paparazzi and threw her from its back.

Madonna was forced to go to hospital but was released on the same day. According to reports she must still undergo further tests, and the extent of her injuries is not known.

This isn't the first time that Madonna has fallen from her horse. In 2005 an incident left her with a broken collarbone, hand and three cracked ribs.

However things aren't all black for the Queen Of Pop, who has announced several new dates to her Stick And Sweet tour.

Madonna has been accused of lying by the photographer at the centre of the storm. Freelancer Thomas Hinton told New York Daily News that he took shots before and after the star fell, but was not present when the incident occurred.

"I arrived more than 10 minutes after she fell, and I was shooting from the street," Hinton said.

"If I had startled the horse, I would have gotten pictures!"

THE poverty-stricken father of Slumdog Millionaire child star Rubina Ali plans to become a millionaire himself-by SELLING his nine-year-old daughter.

In a bid to escape India's real-life slums, Rafiq Qureshi put angel-faced darling of the Oscars Rubina up for adoption, demanding millions of rupees worth £200,000.

As he offered the shocking deal to the News of the World's undercover fake sheik this week, Rafiq declared: "I have to consider what's best for me, my family and Rubina's future."

Rafiq tried to blame Hollywood bosses for forcing him to put his daughter up for SALE.

As he tried to fix the illegal adoption deal, real-life slum dweller Rafiq declared: "We've got nothing out of this film."

Then, almost embarrassed to speak it out loud, he whispered to an accomplice the price tag he has put on his innocent young daughter: "It's £200,000!"

That was an astonishing FOURFOLD increase on his opening demand. But Rafiq's equally demanding brother Mohiuddin insisted: "The child is special now. This is NOT an ordinary child. This is an Oscar child!"

Dad Rafiq is desperate to cash in on their nine-year-old's success in the blockbuster film by selling her to the highest bidder.

He sees it as his family's escape route from the notorious Bandra slum sprawl of Mumbai.

Rafiq revealed his scheme to undercover News of the World reporters posing as a wealthy family from Dubai.

We travelled to Mumbai to expose the illegal sale after a tip-off from a concerned close family friend and former neighbour.

Shockingly, this sort of transaction is far from unusual in an impoverished nation where human life comes cheap and children are often treated as a commodity.

Rubina won the hearts of film-lovers around the world playing young Latika in British director Danny Boyle's movie that picked up eight Oscars and a pile of other glittering awards. It tells the rags to riches story of a young man from the slums who wins the Indian version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?

Filmed in Mumbai's seething pauper ghetto it depicts starkly true scenes of poverty and child cruelty, where young orphans are blinded and crippled by Fagin-like thugs and forced to beg on the streets. And with a staggering 11 million children abandoned in India every year, there is no shortage of young prey.

Our informant, now a city tour guide, told us: "Rubina's family are furious that despite the film doing so well and their pretty daughter becoming so famous, they are still living in such rough conditions.

"They were approached by one wealthy Middle Eastern family who saw their plight in an item on Al Jazeera TV. The couple expressed an interest in adopting young Rubina and her parents' eyes lit up.

"Dad Rafiq is streetwise and knows that soon his daughter's success will be forgotten and her moment of fame will be over. He has a family to feed and simply can't afford it. He is keen to find a rich family to bring up Rubina but only if they are willing to help the whole family to get out of the slums.

"The Middle East family were moved to tears by the plight of the young orphans shown in the film and fell in love with Rubina.

"Just as Western stars like Madonna do, they want to adopt children from poor areas and give them a better life.

"This family wanted to take Rubina abroad. They agreed to come to Mumbai to discuss the adoption in May.

"But the approach has made Rafiq very greedy and he has said that he will consider the highest offer for his child. But they realise that the money will soon stop coming in and Rafiq is open to all offers."

Our investigator made contact with Rafiq and said we had heard he was considering having Rubina adopted. He told Rafiq he was acting for a wealthy Arab sheik who wanted to take the youngster to live with him 2,000 miles away in Dubai.

Rafiq replied: "Yes, we are considering Rubina's future.

"Why don't you speak to my brother-in-law, Rajan, and he will discuss it with you? I will ask him to call you."

After contacting us, Rubina's uncle Rajan More - who speaks good English - confirmed: "Yes, we are interested in securing our girl's future.

"Rubina's life is miserable and she lives here with her stepmother. Most of the time she stays with me because she is not happy at her parents' home.

"Obviously if you wanted to adopt we could discuss this, but her parents would also expect some proper compensation in return. We are talking of around £50,000 for this to happen." In another phone call, father Rafiq coolly confirmed: "Whatever you have discussed with Rajan, I agree with. Whatever money is agreed by Rajan, I will accept.

"We can discuss everything about this deal when we meet. There's a lot of interest in Rubina, she's become very famous."

Without querying the background, intentions, or even the names of Rubina's prospective new parents, Rafiq arranged to meet us.

And as soon as we said the wealthy family lived in the United Arab Emirates Rafiq suggested: "We would love to come there.

"I have never been there but I have seen it in Indian films. It looks a great place."

Trafficking of poor Indian children to the Middle East, where they are forced to risk their lives as camel jockeys or subjected to sexual abuse, is common in the Mumbai slums. But that did not deter Rafiq.

His first plan was to bring Rubina plus other relatives to visit us in Dubai to discuss the deal. But he had to scrap the idea because he could not get a passport. He is disqualified because he is facing police charges over a knife attack.

That is why he did not accompany Rubina to the Oscars ceremony and her Uncle Mohiuddin went instead.

Rafiq tried to shrug off the problem, claiming: "There is a case against me but it's nothing. I'm trying to get it sorted now. In India you can buy anything if you have money!"

His Plan B was the meeting in Mumbai fixed for Thursday evening. But he arrived late with his little daughter at the luxurious Leela Kempinski hotel at 11.35pm, when most children her age would be in bed.

Also tagging along were trusted sidekick Rajan More, Rafiq's brother Mohiuddin, a friend called Dinesh Dubey and two young nephews. "They were all keen to see what the hotel looks like inside," explained Rajan as he entered the £480-a-night suite.

Smiling broadly, Rubina, who was wearing a torn orange and white Indian dress, looked around the room in amazement. She was proudly clutching her new Nokia mobile phone, a gift from a well-wisher.

She said: "My house is as big as the toilet you have here. We live in Gharib Nagar (Poor Man's Colony)."

As the young VIP ordered strawberry milk shake and ice-cream, dad Rafiq proudly told how his daughter clinched the part in the international blockbuster film.

"One of our neighbours where we live took her to the audition," he said. "Around 1,500 kids turned up and my daughter passed. The film took over a year to make and she worked on it for a month."

Slumdog has been a roaring success, raking in a staggering £185 million at box offices around the world.

But Rafiq, 36, again complained: "They haven't looked after us. They gave some money at the start but they gave us nothing afterwards. They gave us around 150,000 rupees (£2,040). They've been talking about giving us a house, but all they do is talk." Rubina chipped in: "But I did get toys. When we were filming in Juhu beach I got some crayons."

In fact Danny Boyle and producer Christian Colson have set up a trust to ensure Rubina gets a proper education, is well housed and receives support dealing with media attention.

It was reported that Rafiq had spent some of his daughter's film fees on medical treatment to a leg he broke while working as a carpenter. He also used her cash to buy a new mobile phone for himself so agents can contact him to discuss work offers for his daughter. Rafiq has two other children - Sana, aged 13 and six-year-old Abbass - as well as another baby on the way by Rubina's stepmum Munni. Street-kid Rubina is one of only a handful of youngsters who attend school in her neighbourhood.

Rafiq added: "What they showed in the film is exactly how life is here. The government doesn't help us. We get nothing.

"We live in one room, seven of us sleep on the floor. I earn £2 to £3 a day. I have to consider what's best for me, my family and Rubina's future."

A fortnight ago Rubina and fellow child actor Azharuddin Ismail were each given a £12,000 luxury apartment by Slumdog sound engineer Rasul Pookutty. The property in Kerala, south India, was awarded to Rasul - who himself escaped poverty - by the local council in honour of his Oscar achievement.

The firewall is our gateway to the Internet. It is a piece of software or hardware that manages Internet connections to and from your computer. It monitors the applications that try to initiate connection with your computer from the Internet, and it controls which programs are allowed to use the Internet. Nowadays, Internet users are exposed to several kinds of Internet threats, such as software vulnerabilities, automated worms, viruses and random Internet attackers. Properly configured personal firewalls are the first line of defense to answer these threats. But how do you test your personal firewall? Security researchers have developed small, non-destructive, leak testers, that deliberately attempt to test different firewall capabilities. The idea behind them is simple: if the test can bypass your computer’s security, then so can a hacker. There are many leak-testing programs available. Each one designed to test a particular flaw and each using a particular technique to bypass a firewall’s standard protection mechanisms. We’ve compiled a list of tools we believe will be of value to both home users and advance users. 1. PCFlank Leaktest - PCFlank Leaktest is a small utility that tests any firewall’s ability to protect against unauthorized or illegal transmissions of data from a user’s computer that is connected to the Internet. It uses a special technique to impersonate another program, which your firewall has been set to trust. Get PCFlank Leaktest here. 2. Breakout - Breakout sends to the IE’s or Firefox’s address bar the URL to launch, via the ‘SendMessage’ Windows API. No code is injected. Usually very hard to detect by firewalls. DNSTester - Starting from Windows 2000, a Windows service DNS client is running and handles all DNS requests. HOW TO APPLY

(i)Applications should be submitted strictly “ON-LINE” by logging on to BCPL Web site

www.emodeapply.com/BCPL .Applications will not be accepted by any other mode. The web site will be

kept open from 10.00hours on 21.01.2009 to 10.02.2009 till 1700 hrs which will be the last date for

applying on line.

(ii) Candidates are allowed to apply only once and application once submitted cannot be altered under any

circumstances.

(iii) A candidate can apply for one post only. Candidates applying for more than one post will not be

considered.

(iv) Candidates are required to possess an E-mail ID valid for at least one year which is compulsorily to be

entered in the on line application form. All correspondence with candidates shall be done through E-mail

only. All information regarding written examination schedule/admit cards/interview call letters etc. shall be

provided through E –mail to the candidates found apparently eligible based on the on line data. Responsibilities

of receiving, downloading and printing of admit card etc. will be on the candidate. BCPL will not be responsible

for bouncing of any E-MAIL sent to the candidates. However, from time to time necessary information will be

hosted on BCPL Web site.

(v) Internal Candidates and Candidates belonging to the SC/ST/PH category are exempted from

Application fee, all other candidates are required to pay a non refundable application fee in the form of a

Demand Draft of Rs.200/-(Rupees Two Hundred Only) drawn in favour of “Brahmaputra Cracker and

Polymer Limited” payable at “Dibrugarh” , Assam, in order to register their application online.

(vi) General and OBC candidates should have their Demand Draft (DD) ready while applying online, as the

AGE LIMIT: EETs: Upper Age limit is 27 years as on 01.01.2009 i.e. candidates born before 01.01.82 need not apply. Upper age is relaxed by two years for the candidates who have acquired Post graduation degree. ET-HR / ET-Finance: Upper Age limit is 29 years as on 01.01.2009 i.e. candidates born before 01.01.80 need not apply. HOW TO APPLY:

Candidate belonging to General/OBC category is required to pay a non-refundable registration fee of Rs. 500/-. The SC / ST / PH category candidate need not pay the registration fee.
State Bank of India has been authorized to collect the registration fee, in a specially opened account (No. 30605838329) at CAG branch, New Delhi, on behalf of NTPC. Candidate has to approach the nearby SBI branch with a printout of the “pay-in-slip” which is available on the application registration portal. The pay-in-slip printed from the portal should only be used for depositing the fee for proper crediting of amount in the allocated account. On receipt of the money the bank will issue a unique Journal Number and a Branch Code of the bank collecting the money. This journal number and the branch code are to be filled up by the candidate during online registration. In case the candidate deposit the fee in a wrong account, NTPC will not be responsible. There will not be any other mode of money collection.
After applying online, candidate is required to download the registration slip generated by the system with unique registration number.
The candidate should send duly signed one printout of registration slip after affixing the colour photograph, caste / PH certificate (if applicable) and photocopy of the pay-in-slip in an envelop. Candidate can keep copy of registration slip and pay-in-slip for his future reference.

You will hear information about departure time, gate number etc. After getting down at Intl. Airport , you can move around in the airport. But be at the gate within 45 minutes of your flight's departure for the onward journey, cause they may require checking your tickets etc. On Arrival Immigration : The first process you need to go through at the port-of-entry U.S. airport after landing is the immigration and customs clearance. Before getting down at your port-of-entry final international halt, inside the plane, you will be given a form to fill up called I-94. Specify the information correctly in the form. On alighting from the plane you may ask people or signs will guide you to the immigration. Keep your passport, H1-paper and the form you filled inside the plane, handy. At the counter you might be asked some questions. Talk absolutely to the point and don’t lie as every thing will be written on the paper .You will be given the counter foil of I-94 form. Keep that very carefully. Claiming your Baggage : Thereafter move toward the baggage claim carousel assigned to your flight; simply follow the signs directing you to the place..Hire a trolley and Collect your luggage and look for signs directing you to customs clearance. At the customs clearance they may ask you to open your bags for a security check. Reaching ur Final Destination : Locate the counter for the domestic airline you will be taking to your final destination. Above all don't hesitate or feel shy to ask for help from airport support staff or police officers, if you need anything.
